View Full Version : Buying Fuel From Your Local Oil Company

OK, I'm putting this here as this forum is to "post and discuss ideas". I posted this on DTR:
http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showthread.php?t=120438 and it appears I'm the only one doing it.

My first fill up I saved $.09 a gallon. Since, I've saved alot more. $.22, $.25 and the past two tanks (1/17 & 1/31) I saved $.32 a gallon compared to the local high volume Mobil, right off the highway, where I used to go.

Since heating oil is far more popular in New England than elsewhere, I'm curious if anyone else is doing this. My fuel is all I buy from this oil company as I have a gas furnace and pellet stove so there's no volume discount or any other type of deal I'm getting to get these prices.

Anyone else doing this or looked into something like this?

Dude God help you if you get caught. If you get pulled over and your tank gets "Stuck" and you only have half a gallon left. The Government has fines posted of 2,500 (Class A misdemeanor) dollars per gallon of capacity the vehicle can hold (Or 90,000 Dollars) PLUS a TEN THOUSAND DOLLAR fine for illegal tax evasion up front (100,000dollars) PLUS 5 years inprisonment.

Good luck Obi1

DITTO!!!!! Be very careful... If it has a red tint to it, STOP now...

If it does not have red tint, and is #2 highway fuel, the oil company should be filing with the state with what has been delivered to you. You are required to pay use tax on the fuel quarterly.

:nono: This in ON ROAD fuel....no red...no tint, just a high volume heating oil company that has two pumps at their facility for diesel fuel. There's an overhead hose, too, for fueling the oil trucks. They get deliveries every day, that's how high volume they are.

If I go in the early am or late in the afternoon, there will be 4 or 5 dump trucks waiting to fill up. I'm big on topping of and there's no red.

The guy who told me about it drove 18 wheelers for years and is now retired. If it wasn't taxed, the $.45 more would put thier price way over what stations are getting. This is like buying wholesale.

OK, around here they have someting similar. However, you have to show proof that you own a business. You get fuel cheaper but at the end of the year you get a print-out from the company on all of you purchases which you need to file with the state and feds at tax time.

If there was an app that you filled out, I would check the fine print.

I did fill one out, but it was only a credit application. Simple form with no lawyer legalese on it.

You've got me curious though. The next time I fill up, I think I'll stop in the office and ask a couple of questions.

It sounds too good to be true, and ya know what they say. As far as I know, they don't dip tanks in this part of the country anyways.

DOT has dipped tanks in Danbury at the weigh station. My old dump truck got checked a few years ago:dunno: . One guy there said that he had them cut open a filter because they suspected he was using red stuff. I use biodiesel that I make at home, will I be gotten, no need to dip the tank you can smell it.

Anyone that wants to make some is welcome to meet up with me and I will show ya how. Also can help you build your reactor. If you are local we can start a co-op as I have been doing it for at least 2 years and use B100 for heat also. Unless the feds changed the law i thought you could make up to 400 Gallons for use per person per year.:wtf2:

Odd cause there is a large co-op over by the hudson above the Newburg bridge that makes a lot of Biodiesel I helped them get Methanol for a good price. They have several Cummins guys and came down to my barn in October.

well I hope this hasnt become illegal in mass too.. no idea! no idea on how to find out either! I have a conversion on my truck too, so Im going to run a blend in the main tank and veggie in the secondary tanks which are all hidden under the truck.
What was the price you got on methanol? Last batch I got was 225 delivered which had risen a lot since the year before at 150.
I want to do some more bio this spring, last year all my bio kept coming out bad. I guess I just dont have the touch yet. :notworking: :stirthepot:
and yeah I hear ya about the govt. what a mess.. these people are throwing away all OUR money and were all going to own a big chunk of this big debt. Id like to see an impeachment right now. I mean, a CEO of a company would be out on his ass after something like this. And the newly elected democrats are too busy being pansies to get anything real done while our guys are dying by the boatload in iraq. What a freakin mess
Im voting for nader if he runs in 08. screw this.

we have a oil company that does that here also.
but you have to get a card from them like a credit card.
and you get a bill once a month.

The bill just came today, 2.5 weeks after I bought. $65.31 for 27 gallons or $2.41 per gallon. That was $.18 a gallon cheaper than the high volume Mobil I was using. Another $4.86 in the BOMBing fund. :woohoo:
