So what is it going to cost me to bring my truck somewhere and have them o-ring the head? My thought is to set something up and go there and have them do it that day and then drive home. Right now it's looking like Mass Diesel. What does the complete job cost? How do they keep the o-rings in the head while putting it on? I'm afraid of my SPS66 right now with the stock head gasket, it pegs the 40 psi boost gauge pretty fast.:duh:

Thats defenetly a full day job, not sure if it all can be done in a day. (regular buisness hours anyway) The machining is usually around $350 plus the labor to R+R the head looking at around a grand maybe a little more/less I assume with parts included. Then your going to want to do studs at the same time ($425ish). The o-rings are usually .041 pressed into a .039 machined groove, so you can tip the head, drop it etc and they wont fall out. There is a place in CT where I had mine done who does the machining, but not the r+r.
Mass diesel would be the best bet for the whole deal Id say.

If you want to do it in a day, buy a head and have it o-ringed.

Then come down to Derby early Saturday morning with a 30 pack of Coors Light, and a few pizza's, you'll be back on the road that night.

I don't think you'll get it done in a day anywhere... :popc1:

As everyone else said, buy a new head and have it oringed. That way it is just a simple swap and it can easily be done in one day. It took me almost 2 weeks to get mine done between waiting for the head to get decked and then for it to get o-ringed. You can find a new head for about 700 bucks. I would be willing to give you a hand as well.

How come I bought the head so it would be quicker, and I'll be down for more than a month?? :nutkick:

Less alcohol, more work! :happydrunks: :beerchug:

If you buy the head, then you sell the old one to recoup part of the cost!

I guess I'm not gonna use the head I got from PDR. It's o-ringed (and ported), and is for sale.

Tim,I would buy a new head, and a set of studds of you want the ultimate. Also a new head isnt enough,it needs to be checked, and a smoother finish put on the head, the factory machining is too rough for hi performance (50+psi) in most cases. It was Don M,who did mine, smooth as glass and perfectly flat. His head is the only one thats held up on my truck, and its been 3+ yrs without a problem at 65-70psi of boost.

Id let Scott do the work, and get you the parts also,he's excellent, and knows his way around the CTD,and what will work.

The guy is in Lebanon, CT. He did my o-rings this year. He is very meticulous and he does the work in one day.
