ddra does not seem to go out of their way to advertise, thats the group who sponsored it last year. This year the NHRDA will be co-hosting it, so it should do pretty well:smokin:

Ill be there again this year. I belong to the DDRA and its a much smaller group but supporting the same sport. Its not a bad ride out there from Ma. and the track is decent. Hope to see a lot more trucks there this year.

It's probably closer for you in CT than from Cobleskill. I can make it there from my house in 45 minutes if I'm cookin'. That place is my home away from home in the summer time. :smilielol: :exactly:

Right across the street! Its a family affair Art! Saturday afternoon drags, Saturday night dirt track racing, and then Sunday afternoon more drags. You can set up across the street in the big field they have. All the dirt track guys do every Saturday night.

I think there should be more advertising for the Valley event. I live about 15 minutes away and didn't have a clue about it last year until way after it happened. I know a bunch of people that would go to this and I will be spreading the word about it. Can anybody run there trucks of do you have to be a member, because I've run my truck there for test-n-tune(blistering 17 secs.) and know of at least 2 or 3 more trucks that would run.:HoleShotHolset:

hey jim, im trying to load all the videos on youtube, im not sure if i have your video of you and the wheel hop, but im loadin them all. hey i have a question on exhaust, i put on a 4" system on that 24 valve, i had it straight and was way to loud, vibrated the sh** out of the truck and cab with horrible drone. so i purchased a silverline muffler from ramdriver through ebay, i put it on and the truck is quieter than stock, honestly sounds identical to what it did stock now, i have the muffler in the correct direction and its a straight through design muffler, just can see the baffles inside on the walls, anyways, im loadin a sound clip of it with the exhaust, any ideas on where i can find a muffler that doesnt put it back to stock sounds, i was figuring the silverline would have just toned it down and still kept the deep sound.

Jim
08-09-2008, 09:33 PM
if it has baffles that look like scoops and catch the sound you can turn it around. May be difficult if the hangers are welded on though.

The race is for 1320 feet, make sure you keep your throttle buried all the way through the end lights. Typically the track has two sets of lines across the track at the finish line. You want to make sure you accelerate completely through the backline, which represents the end of the 1/4 mile. (The front lines are typically 30-60 feet in front of the finish line, and represent the 1/4 mile MPH timer locations. (2 timers are used, thus the your 1/4 mile mph is calculated based upon how much time it took you to travel through the 2 timers.)

i'm lookin at the vid now,...my muffler is backwards but it's louder than that.. however i want to step up to a 6" bully dog or at least the 5" expandit w/muffler like on my last truck. the expandit is loud, it barks, loud turbo sounds, but the muffler takes a good bit of the edge off enough to not get in trouble and keeps the drone down to a minimum.

what is expandit? never heard of it, i pretty pist its that quiet, i was hoping for a rumble out of that muffler and it sounds like stock, I really feel like ripping it off, but for the price i paid i was hopin for it to sounds nice

edit: i see what expandit is now, still pondering the idea of just straight piping it, it will be a hell of a lot better than listening to a stock sounding system.

For those of us that KNOW what happens when boost is over 50 psi AND running an "unlimited slip" converter in 2wd, I was just trying to be consistent for the brackets and so I could drive the 3 hrs. home! I'm only using PL04 on the Quad and 3-5psi @ take off, bouncing the needle off 50psi the WHOLE run on stock bolts/gasket:97DodgeCTD: ! There's ALOT left but untill I can afford to break it or upgrade the weaker parts, 3rd of 25 trucks isnt bad.:exactly:
Ryan- check the MPH on my runs, look all-out to you?

PS, got a bunch more clips to post but takes FOREVER, sorry.:TqT:

if the bolts are in good shape, tighten the bolts down in sequence, then re-tighten in 5lb increments to a higher number (they can take up to 150lbs, i did my old one up to 115 after redoing the headgasket). once you hit the required number, then retighten as many times as it takes until the bolts stop turning. then retighten in sequence a couple more times.

jeff prince runs stock head bolts on his "farm" truck at over 100psi. :HoleShotHolset:

I've heard that before, but I thought had to at least ring it? Stock 24v gasket will hold only 60psi even with studs on a DD IIRC.:dunno:

it's better if you do, but tightening the bolts should hold 45psi reliably...i'm not sure much above that reliably. if the head or block isn't warped, good/tight studs on a stock headgasket should hold 50psi pretty well. it seems that most guys running stock bolts holding high boost will make a bunch of runs at the track, then tighten the bolts again instead of just leaving them (also never go above half throttle until the engine is fully warm).

I ALWAYS warm it up, but have also seen up to 55psi @ the track/dyno a few times this year and have not retorqued, EVER! I know I'm flirting with disaster and sooner or later WILL blow it. when that happens I will ring the head and possibly stud also. I also run free flowing twins and Quad ADR. for timing/fuel and NO drugs, so far so good. :exactly:

Did you think about that before you posted? I cant believe you would actually post crap like that about another forum member, man that was very very very rude, did you ever stop and think that maybe he is still dialing in his setup? just because you have twins doesn't mean you automatically run a 12sec pass, you gotta grow up man, I like ya but this is why you make it hard for people to even tolerate you.

i actually was talking to carl quite a bit at nj, and i understand completely whats up with his setup, and considering he's is 2wd with stock size tires and twins he's actually doing pretty and a hurting tranny. i am allowed to joke around just like you guys do with me every single time i make a post no matter what it is. so seeing as how i am joking about his truck, as he is with mine i think its fine.

nope not all i wouldn't run all out with your setup for the same reasons you don't, you deffinetly have a whole lot more in your setup, and thats why i joke around with you cause im in the same boat sort of but you make about 2x the power i might make currently.

Ryan, that's where the confusion lies, you in fact, have a pessimistic view on everything, and that's why people get mad at ya :exactly: . If you look in a dictionary you will notice the difference between being optimistic and pessimistic. I had said in the past that I was not gonna bother trying to change your mindset, and I don't know why I still am. The best thing you can do is don't say anything negative to other people. If all you say is negative things, when you are only kidding about something, you will be misconstrued always. People here have a hard time stomaching a lot of things you comment about, especially because you have no clue what you are saying. You need a new approach my friend. You can start your new approach by first keeping negative comments to yourself. The next thing you can change is keeping your mouth shut when you have no knowledge on the subject at hand. Then you can stop making negative comments about guys trucks. We are all here because we we have an abnormal fondness for our trucks. We throw a lot of money into our trucks, only to spend more money on our trucks to try something different. We take pride in our trucks, and spend a lot of time working on them. You on the other hand, have no pride in your trucks whatsoever, and it shows! We spend thousands of dollars on our trucks yearly, we don't need you to keep saying things like " I don't need to spend any money on my truck, I can just grind my plate to make power" like we are all stupid. It's fine, and we understand that you are young and don't have a lot of money to spend on your trucks. Don't be so insecure, that you find it necessary to talk trash about anothers truck. Sell that heap of trash that you are driving around with now, and sink the money in your other truck, and above all, show some respect here! before someone slaps the piss out of ya!!!!

Well said.

And, even without just grinding the plate, if you want to keep your old(er) truck going good and snappy, it costs thousands of dollars each year. Sometimes I wonder, what is wrong with me :smilielol: (while upgrading the trac bar, changing steering box, etc. etc. )

But you said it Tim, it's cause we dig our trucks.

yes it does, and i have been debating on which truck to sell or if should just keep both. as a first vehicle a diesel truck is easily one of the most expensive vehicles to maintain i could have picked, and the lemon 97 i bought didn't help either.
