View Full Version : Exhaust. I know, I know...

For the truck, I am debating on doing something different than I have normally done. On the other CTD trucks I had, I always messed with the exhaust. First one, I whacked the muffler. Too loud. 2nd one, I installed the replacement MBRP Muffler/Pipe combo. Not too shabby. Great sound.

Now, I am debating on doing a turbo-back setup. I can (for test purposes) run a cat-test pipe, and install the MBRP muffler and hope it doesn't get a raspy sound. Or I can go to the 5" turbo-back /w/ muffler only setup. From what I have heard, the cat isn't the brick in the exhaust system.

Any feedback from anyone who has done either of the two? Any recommended vendors who have good customer service with a good value? FWIW, I drive the truck every day, and tow with on a frequent occasion.

Thanks

on my 06 I did the MBRP muffler replacement kit and it had a drone. Replaced the muffler with a piece of pipe and it drones just as much.
Id hate to tow for a while with the way my truck sounds now...

I know on a Dmax the drone can be a PIA, espcially on EC & CC trucks, try a resonator ahead of the muffler. Ive heard they help get rid of most or all of the drone.

I'm ok with a certain amount of drone. It's just a nature of the beast. Does anyone here run a 5" turbo-back setup on an 04.5+ CR truck? I did some online shopping and found a great deal.
