Are there any adjustments on the 4500 in the shift pattern/ guides? My truck has started to grind going up into fourth and downshifting into as well. It seems to feel like its a shorter throw like something moved and is limiting it. Wasnt a gradual problem either it just showed up after a missed shift or two. You can drive it without grinding if you shift slower but tyring to row the gears is imposible without a nasty noise. Real agrivating after all my other problems And am hoping there is an adjustment i dont want to get into rebuilding this trans or doing another trans swap :omg:

have you changed your oil recently? I had a weird clunking last winter and problems shifting and it turned out that the transmission was filled with gear oil which is too thick. I'd change it with the syntorq stuff and see if that helps.
Otherwise, I don't know of a way to tune them. Maybe your shift forks are worn out?

I believe theres a little nylon piece in those right up where the shifter goes into the transmission, I'd check and make sure that's not worn out. Seen that happen on a few vehicles causing excessive slop in the shifter when its in gear.

its not slop almost the opposite the throw up to third is like 4 inchs long and the throw to 4th is only about 1-2 inchs. Took it for another drive and it seems to be a spuratic thing too. Could a worn out master/slave be doing this? I have noticed that it kinda wants to creep in 1st gear with the clutch in (I think the pressure is low in the master/slave as I saw some moisture around one of the fittings taking the motor/trans out)

hows your dual disk southbend with the 4500?.. I pickeup up a new ride with a rebuild supposedly nv4500 and a dual disk mitchell cluctch. Its EXTREMELY stiff clutch pedal wise and you shift it with out the clutch slowly.. It only hads 5000 miles on it and i'm debating swapping in a easier clutch for the wife to shift ..even debating putting my G56 in it .mummn

it shouldn't be that stiff... evan's truck isn't that bad but is a little bit stiffer than factory.
is there maybe something broken that isn't allowing the stick to get fully into 4th gear?

dont k now i dont mind the clutch at all untill i get in heavy stop and go traffic then its a pita but just driving thru town isnt bad. I have the 3600 think they make a 3280 or someting like that that might be better.
