Havnt been on in a while due to the fact of being dieseless, wrecked my rat:97DodgeCTD: Now on the hunt for a new one. just had a few quick ?'s Was lookin at 3rd gen 6 spds 03 to 07's any diffrences/mech advantages in the year line up. i know ive heard some sort of problems with some of the early models like 03-04.5 not sure what maybe a myth, but i preferably liked the 05's cause it seems better lookin then the 06 and up models. Also anybody know about the 6.7s relaibilty wise seems like you maybe would not be able to get as good MPG's with the bigger engine.

Any input will help thanks.

Skip the 6.7 imho. Save money buying used and spend the savings on upgrades! Eariler 5.9's supposedly had injector issues. 04.5-07 5.9's also are more responsive to mods then the 03-early 04's.

03-early 04's have problems with the injectors and the valve seats falling out (usually due to high egts). they're only running 2 fuel injections per cycle. there are plenty of early trucks making serious power as the smarty doesn't need to use the 3rd injection event (in the the 04.5-07 5.9) to make its power.

one of the biggest issues is keeping the fuel clean...using a 2 micron filter. preferably something like a FASS too. once you get a good set of aftermarket injectors with a good supply system, then you don't really have to worry about them anymore.

No prolly not want to put it in a common rail when i find 1 wyatt was sayin all ya gotta do is get a 2gen manifold?

the compressor outlet is different. you might have to rig up something, or just get a different compressor housing.

exactly. if it's a second gen 62 then the turbo should come close to "bolting up" with a second gen manifold.
