Blew a head gasket on my daughters 98 outback crasher. Anyony pulled a motor on one of these ?:crazy:

1998 legacy outback twin cam. I also have a 24 valve diesel, must be something about those extra valves that gets me. Oh it is an automatic, not like my 6 spd.

On 1996-present it is easier to drop the engine slightly to slide out the headbolts if memory serves me right. There are 4 holes in the subframe that allow the bolts to slide out of the head but it seems that they never lign up right.

that's ok if ya know which head leaks. I want to do both and the 4 cam timing belt is a pain in the car, I did it last year. I need glasses now and seeing in the tight space is challanging.
