Anyone have the common Ford Bed/Wheel Well rust on their Super Duty? I guess the sound deadener inside the wheel well holds moisture and causes it?

Mine is rusting out nicely on the passenger side and the driver side just started to bubble :wtf2:

Just wondering what you did..I know I have a few options:

1. Used bed-but my concern is that bed will eventually start to rust anyway

2. Do upper wheel well arches, but that does not cut out the entire area

3. Got an estimate from a local Ford Dealer/bodyshop who said they would cut out the entire wheel well on either side of the bed and weld in new metal-leave out the sound deadener...repaint the area and then re-clear the bed for $1500?

4. Be a cheap bastard and sand the wheel wells down-hit it with rust inhibitor and stick on some fender flares-but that is really only masking the problem...

Thanks for any input

Dont cut it and patch it.Start looking around the local utility truck body places. You can usually pick them up at a good price.Around $500.What color you looking for?Im going tommorrow to have some work done on my utility and can look in there yard.Last time I was there he had about a dozen SD beds there.

Truck is Black....my only issue with another bed is..that it will start the same rusting crap down the road...but I guess for 500 or so probably worth the chance.

But maybe you can prevent it BEFORE it happens this time??

same thing is happening on mine, im getting some fender cut out and putting some POR-15 around the cut that should show that rust to pop up on my truck again
