What are you guys running for a cam, i know everyone has there oppinions but im just trying to get the most affortable one. whats else should i change when changing the cam? I figure while the head is off i might as well change out the cam for one with a bolt on gear.

Colt Cams, they make em for Hamilton, and they made em for PDR, also a few others as well, pm Warpig as I think he has contact info, the PDR I got from him is a Colt.

When I do the cam it will be from hamilton cams. Peak diesel has pretty good prices on them too right around 500 last time I checked new cam too.

I just did a helix2 from F1. when you pull the cam use one of the long intake bolts in the retainer plate or you'll be fishing it out of the pan.:97DodgeCTD: I didnt read that step anywhere and luckily I was able to fetch it with a magnet.

The best cam is the one that fits your budget and that fits into the combo you have designed for your truck, cause the bottom line is a regrind is a good choice, a used cam is a good choice, a billet is a good choice, just cause its got a brand names stuck to it does not make it the best, call up some of the vendors and ask questions, just be an informed shopper and you'll be ok, good luck.

Helix 2 with bolt on is what I have. Theres so much back and fourth about which is the best with no back to back testing to prove it, kinda hard to tell which is the best overall. Sigh, someday someone will do a cam comparison study.:professor:

I think he wants to do this WITHIN the next couple years!:falldownlaugh:
There is a lot to learn. I have to agree with BOTH Jim and Todd, as the cam has to match the combo but no one is saying exactly what cam goes with what combo.:97DodgeCTD::dunno:
Talk to the makers and whoever you feel most comfortable with, take their advice. Good luck! :HoleShotHolset:
