My 97 allegedly has a 4k GSK in it. If I wind it up to 2k or over w/ no load it floats and doesn't come down right away. Even on the road if I hit it at high rpms it will do it sometimes. Is it close to runaway? Are the springs too tight? How do I fix it?
Thanks guys!

Check your throttle return springs! :HoleShotHolset:

the springs could be binding on one another or the govenor could be getting worn out and sticking and not returning to idle right away

The first thing I would check is the throttle cable. I had one fray on the inside and stick. Other that that I would try messing with the springs. Try taking a click or two out and if that doesn't work put a couple back in.

i would go with playing with the springs, figure out ifits 1-2 clicks tight thatll fix or 1-2 loose.... my truck was a couple loose so i had to tighten it...

Pretty sure the cable is good, but I've learned the hard way not to take things for granted. :nutkick: I'll double check it.
Dave, return springs are good. I was playing with that part of it yesterday. Doing a little TPS adjustment. :jim:
John, what was yours doing?

it would idle at 500, and if u eased the clutch out it would stay at 50... then bump the throttle and it would idle at 500 again... also when you wuld rev to 2000 it would stay till you eased the clutch out to catch it... I lossend it a click each and it wouldnt idle or would just rev to 2k, then i went 3 clicks tight (two more than original setting) and it idled normal stopped hanging up...
i do believe if you have a vernier caliper it is 0.125"ish for depth... +/- 1 click or so...

Thanks John. :HoleShotHolset:
I'll try to play with it this week, unless it gets as nasty as they say it will.:nutkick:
Thanks guys! :HoleShotHolset:

Well, I had to make a socket, but it worked out well. I tightened it 2 clicks. That little bugger turns hard! No more floating and I think it revs higher. Not real sure though, stupid auto tranny.
I tried to measure it, but I wasn't sure where to, so I just tightened it and tried it. It seemed to work.
Thanks for your help guys! :HoleShotHolset:
