My headlight switch has been going down hill over the course of time. Ill do my best to describe my problem. When i turn on just running lights no real problem till recently it seems sometimes turn on then off and to fix i move the knob a lil like its loose. Same goes for my turn on my headlights. Pull it all the way back running lights are on but headlights are not on till i wiggle the knob around till i get them on.
Ive been thinking its just the switch getting old and loose and i was thinking of just buying a new switch would fix everything.
ON the other hand its a problem relating to ReCall 819
Recall 819

So please what is my best route of action?
Get a new switch or find the recall package?
Thanks

PS
i would like to get this fix some what soon because im afraid one of these nights im gonna be driving and my lights will go out

Mopar sells an updated switch with a new connector. Odds are you melted the connector if your running some accessory lights on the truck off the parking light circut. Get it before it goes out for good. Its a pretty simple job, they tell you to solder all the wires but you dont have to, butt connectors and shrink wrap work fine.

I guess thats it, I don't know, when mine melted on my 95 I just told them I needed a switch, and it automatically came with the connector.

called a couple dealers for the recall package which is
* 1 Headlamp Switch
* 1 Overlay Relay Harness
* 1 2-Way Female Connector
* 1 2-Way Wedge
* 1 Headlamp Switch Connector
* 1 Headlamp Switch Connector Wedge
* 1 Wire Kit
* 9 Heat Shrink Tubing

one dealer here in PA asking for $165 and the guy seemed like a douche nozzle

Place back home in mass $144 and we are talking about the recall so they may do it for me for free im hoping lol:HoleShotHolset:

somehow I missed this thread. That recall is mandated by the Govt and has no expiration. 10 yrs old or not they would have to fix it for free. IIRC that recall only involves Duallies. $hit deal for me, same thing that happens to the duallies happened to my SRW.
I guess I coulda wrote to the govt in the amount of time ive spent writing this message, but that would be no fun :smilielol:

I replaced the switch with a good used one and bought a headlight relay harness so all the power isnt going through the switch. Just the 12V to trip the relays. No more smoke in the cab for me:HoleShotHolset: Thanks tho!

cool lol. HIDs all on relays and all my running lights are getting 12.6 volts with truck running so i think im good. i was gonna put my air dam and running board lights on relays but when i used my trusty multimeter had full charge going to them so i see no need to do that . . . you know lol

mine was doing the same thing. i would have to pull the knob out hard to get it to work....and tonight i guess i pulled a little to hard and ended up holding the knob and the rod that goes into the switch in my hand. :97DodgeCTD:
