cb problem

I was wondering if anyone may know whats wrong with my cb. I have a cobra 29 and it wont receve a signal and when i push the button on the mic it just makes this godawful noise. any help would be appreciated

sounds like a short in the mic possibly?

maybe but it worked on my old cb and it only makes the noise when the trucks running

so possibly engine interference? Maybe try grounding the CB directly to the battery if it isnt already.

hook the negative (black) wire to the battery directly.

well it isnt hard wired into my truck when my buddy owned it he put an end on it so he could plug it into his cigarette lighter and it worked fine in his truck. we did the same with my old cb and it also worked
