Mike - I ended up cutting the rear shaft alone. I'm hoping it's close enough to balanced the way I laid it out on the bench, but we'll see. my front shaft is 38" and my rear went from 56" to 92". Used a heavier wall tube for it too.

Hawker
09-07-2010, 11:15 PM
I'm tryin to get all the sheet metal done so i can dip the entire thing in POR15:popcorn:

down in FL i did a lot of pipework and structural work, up here all I do is ornamental work. and mostly all the small stuff the bigger shops don't want.

Hawker
09-12-2010, 10:35 PM
i'll have to get some pictures tomorrow. Camerota's had to build me a 3 piece driveshaft... they didn't like the 2 piece idea. the rack is all set, and the tool boxes are cut down, now i'm just waiting on the POR15 and hardnose from the paint shop and everything can go back on.

dropped about a weeks pay  at the chrome shop on new lights and strobes too

i thought yo umight like to see this...here's my dad's rig.. i couldn't get him to get a diesel (like a 7.3 F450 at the time). it's a pain sometimes like yours since it's so long. he doesn't do ornamental stuff (except railings) unless someone brings in something for repair...mostly pipe, structural, and some production work. it's getting tougher to stay in business with the overhead costs of insurance, trucks, etc., especially since he's a 1-man operation when i'm not helping.

Ive seen a picture of that truck, sharp setup. the long trucks are a PITA to drive around... but it is nice to be setup with everything you could possibly need to do just about anything.

you'll probably hate e for saying this, but I'm so busy with work I can't keep up.

he's the same way right now...everyone is pulling at him. but i can barely weld (growing up around it i never had the passion to learn) so i can't help on a lot of jobs... plus i'm self employed anyways. but the last two years it's really been feast or famine in this economy. so far it looks a lot better right now than it did last year at this time.

Man I'm trying to remember the last time i welded. I learned and did a ton back when I had my s-10. my buddy and I were bagging trucks and welding frames all the time. Should of stuck with that :97DodgeCTD:
