I was helping my boss get the plow trucks ready today, one is a 95 Ford 7.3. It was dripping oil pretty good when I got back from running some errands. We degreased the engine and tried to find where it's leaking from. Man, it's tough to see anything on that engine! We think it might have a leak on top, somewhere between the turbo and the fuel filter. Anyone got any ideas where or what we should check?

Thanks!

On top of the motor it could be hpop gasket or the 2 hpo lines, turbo pedestal o-rings or the EBPV leaking oil. I would also check the hpo rail plugs at either end of the head as they can leak too.

Good way to find the leak - wash the motor down and dry off good then sprinkle some talc powder on it. Make sure you have some good lighting too.

Well, the boss had a local shop take a look. They changed the pedistal o-rings (and boots). We took it out the other day... Hmmm, still leaking!!!

Back to the shop... Now the turbo is leaking! Anyone have a stock turbo lying around (that doesn't leak) they want to get rid of cheap? Does anyone rebuild these for fun (or profit :poke: )?

Thanks!

Oh come on... The Dodge people can't be the only one's who get newer bigger badder turbos and have the stock old ones laying around :stirthepot:

I got one but it needs a rebuild and a wheel. The shop replaced both sets of orings on the turbo ped right? Did anyone verify where exactly oil is coming from the turbo? The EBPV rod can also start leaking making it look like orings are gone when they're really not.
