I have a SCT Livewire. I have read that you can put just about anyone's tunes on it (for the three custiom tunes that it will hold), as long as the tune is writen for your truck. i.e. my 7.3 not Josh's 6.0. Has anyone heard of this or know of anyone who has?
Thanks
Jay

My SCT tuner is vin locked only for my truck. I have a 6.0 and so does my husband and it does not work on his truck. I believe you will need to send back the tuner and have it programmed for your truck or whoever is going to have the scanner. Hope this helps and yes I can run anyones tune on it.

Yea Jay just make sure it has unlocks left on it, should be in the "tuner information" I believe. If you got unlocks then you just need to get in touch with someone who will make a tune for you. Trying to remember who does SCT tunes for 7.3L but not too sure, Swamps or Beans might be able to make some for you.

You won't get shift on the fly tuning with that SCT like the TS style chips. I believe you should be able to swap it from 7.3L to 6.0L trucks as long as the tunes were properly written for the truck they are being installed on.

After I set it up to my truck and vin it has since then said unlocked, if it gets locked I would have to send it to SCT to be unlocked. I know I won't be able to have the shift on the fly when I bought it. From what I dug up the SCT was the easiest on the trans.
Yes Bean can write tunes for the 7.3 just not sure what to do for tunes yet....

The Livewire should come brand new with 5 unlocks, least I think thats the case. With mine and 5 unlocks it means it can be placed on 5 vehicles in its life before it has to get returned to SCT to be unlocked. You should be able to find the number of unlocks remaining.

When you tun the truck the livewire will become locked, it will remain locked until you return your truck to stock. You can go back and forth between stock and tuned on your own truck as many times as you want without changing the number of unlocks remaining. However if you go to tune another truck you will loose an unlock and the tuner will remain locked until that other truck is returned to stock.

Also while the unit is locked and your truck tuned, you can use the Lovewire on other trucks to read and clear DTC codes without effecting the number of locks remaining.

Yea I'm not worried about the unlocks there is no issue there. I just want to know that if I e-mailed Beans with what I wanted that they can e-mail me back the three tunes I wanted. I load them and everyones happy.
The local SCT dealer here 10 min from my house says he no longer does diesels because he's a lame turd. :nutkick:

DP tuner does 7.3 tunes for the sct, innovative does to. i think i still have my sct files for my 7.3 saved on my other computer but the power supply is dead. elite does as well but their customer service blows. i am a dealer for innovative if u want to try his files.

I'll let you know when things calm down around here. Maybe I can roam a few miles south so we can talk more and see what there is to offer.... I might be able to dig up a power supply lol
