Though it might be good info. tons of people ask me about removing emblems, and what is the best way to get rid of the glue and crap left over.

for doublesided taped emblems, fishing line is a great removal tool.
for the leftovers, a 3m "pinstripe" wheel is the best. they look like big round ruber erasers, they will take everything and anything off your paint besides your paint.
For lettering or smaller stuff, Ballcamp (sp?) that napa carries makes plastic rasor blades. they will not damage your paint but will remove lettering and pinstripe.
Hope this helps someone

On racebikes I use Skin so soft. yes a skin care product. it will melt away adheesives and leave the paint in perfect order.

I also hear Naptha works like a champ on the glue without harming the paint.

Thats a good question, I have removed decals before only to see the shadow remain...
Dont know what causes it or if it goes away after time....

I know on my truck when I take off the TDR sticker that is on the back window the Tint in that one perfect outline is darker (Allmost like it is more preserved)

use a razor blade or steel wool. steel wool works great on glass, just dont get the soapy kind. it will take off everything and leave the glass probably looking better than it ever has.

I have uses #000 steel wool from stop and shop. It's very fine and won't screatch either. Woks great on chrome too!

A clay bar will work on glass and chrome also.

I think the best thing to remove that glue is the eraser wheels. They are made for that in the body shop.

Why no mention of WD-40 to remove the adhesive... works better than anything I know of...

For you glass... you can use Bar Keepers Friend. It is near the Comet and Ajax cleaners. Simply make a paste with it and apply with a sponge, it gets out road grime, shadows, hard water stains, etc... gets into the pits in the windshield and will make it look like new again. Lasts for a few months also.

If you need to take off lettering, like on doors. Use Easy-off oven cleaner. I didn't believe it til I tried it! Takes off the lettering, doesn't hurt the paint. :smokin:

Oven cleaner would scare me, I use WD-40 like Torque.
