Hey all, save the date as OCTOBER 15th is yet another SEEfood Challenge! This of course has been the event that over the years just keeps getting better and better. The event has changed over the years from an actual SeaFood thing that started with "Ill bring the Lobstah" (Famous words from 98Rammer) To the SEEfood Challenge that you see today. Kind of a celebratory way of kicking back and sending the summer season packing that was filled with work and play.

The Challenge ... keep the Burn Barrel stoked, and Shovel in copious amounts of food. We have seen this become one of the best times had in the New England area for all diesel clubs, affiliated or not. It's not only about the food either (More on that in a sec) it's about Wrenching, Friends, and of course Trucks. Let's face it, they have alot of time, if not money, sweat, blood, and tears invested in them that brought the NETDP together so why not also use em as an excuse to party, get some help or advice on bolting on something new to them so this continues for years to come?

The Menu ... well now that is the best part .... there isn't one .. HA! It is what YOU make of it. For those who have been about in the past sure know that just about every dish that has ever been served covers the alphabet from A-Z!

Who knows what THIS year may have. If you have that certain special dish that can even turn up the heat in Hell's Kitchen, you know that one dish you make that makes you, the tough guy critic go "wow" ... BRING IT!

************************************************** ********
Plenty of parking and no burnouts. There are hotels (Courtyard and Marriott and the Ramada) which are less than 10 minutes away from the shop. (Super-8 , Howard Johnsons are great alternatives on the cheap)

New guys, read up, post up, come on out and have a good time! Great opportunity to put some screen names to faces in a relaxed atmosphere. Kick back by the burn barrel or grille, Pop a top and shoot the schit! Help make our 10th anniversary one to remember!!!

List will be going up a few weeks before the event for items needed, if you don't have a culinary bone in your body it would help the event tremendously to bring an item off the list. Keep an eye on the thread and mark your calendars, it is guaranteed a great time :HoleShotHolset:

There are a few kits running around now a days. I know one guy on Dmax site that built his own and a company out of Utah that is making them for the 2001-2010 dmax trucks, which is where I ordered mine from. :HoleShotHolset: Big Angry is running a set of his twins.

I won't be putting them to full use for a little while though untill I have Scott build the tranny and install a lift pump with a set of injectors.

6BT - was that a black truck that orange coating on the kit?

Sledheadxp800r
08-09-2011, 10:44 PM
Pondsy are you keeping the stock turbo or going with a race triple setup?

Jim
08-10-2011, 07:54 AM
I figured with the CR's they spool up turbos good enough Twins would suffice. Its got to be tough under the hood of a V8 Diesel unless one is remote.

Sledheadxp800r
08-10-2011, 08:44 AM
One turbo is mounted in the stock location whether it's the stock turbo, s366, or whatever you decide is best for your needs. The other 2 twinns are mounted on the rt side of the engine. Battery, ficm, coolant res, fuel filter, a/c lines must all be relocated. I can't wait to see a set in person.

Pondsy are you keeping the stock turbo or going with a race triple setup?

I am going to keep the stock unless I build the motor. I don't race for the time being, so I don't have a need for the race kit. Not that I need the 3 turbos given my current use of the truck anyway lol.

I figured with the CR's they spool up turbos good enough Twins would suffice. Its got to be tough under the hood of a V8 Diesel unless one is remote.

Twins would definitely get the job done and any performance I could need. I was originally going with MPI twins. I went with this kit because of a cple reasons. First - its something different (for now anyway), throttle response is better than twins allegedly - almost instantaneous like a gasser (something I miss) and better towing (which I could've had with twins).

So we'll see how it works out. I can't imagine I will have an issue with how they perform :exactly:, but I personally didn't get them because of a desire to get more out of the truck than I could have gotten from a set of twins.

There is a post on Duramax Diesels about them - If it's allowed, I can post the link in here.

I can't wait to see them either. I hope to have pics of em mocked up and coated sometime by the end of next week. God knows when I'll have the time and money to get em on my truck. I don't have the skills or tools to install them myself, so I have to save to pay Scott to install or get some help.

So I don't derail this thread, I'll open up a new thread if/when I get em from Trent.

Put the pork in the beans mmmm :Signal73:

That actually is in the original recipe for the beans.... but to date, ya'll have been eating them with ground beef substituted since I haven't had pulled pork on hand when it was time to make the beans. The beans are even better with the pulled pork in them!

I guess I'll try to make it a point to get some done and freeze a few pounds of it to add to the beans.

They make new ones every day :exactly:

Maybe I'll post the recipe and someone else can make a batch too.... seriously! It is just a recipe I got off the internet.... nothing special to it... just follow the directions.

Here is the recipe for all:

Keri's Hog-Apple Baked Beans

3 or 4 slices bacon, diced
2 (16 oz) cans pork and beans, mostly drained (modified to 2 28-oz cans Bush's Baked Beans - see note below)
1/2 c. Blues Hog BBQ Sauce (or other sweet-spicy favorite)
1 lb. smoked leftover smoked pork or beef, more or less, or 1 lb crumbled cooked pork sausage
1 can apple pie filling (chop up the big chunks some)
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp. Mustard (prepared)
1 tsp chipotle or cayenne powder (optional, to taste*)
1 tsp Blues Hog barbecue rub (or your favorite de jour)

Brown bacon, and saute onion and green pepper in bacon grease. Mix in remaining ingredients. Bake at 325º for 1 hour, or simmer on stovetop in large pot for 30 minutes if you don't have time to do them in the oven. Serves 12.

This recipe began life as APPLE PIE BAKED BEANS from somewhere on the web, but I think I've made enough changes to it now to claim it as my own. Smiler This is my standard for baked beans anymore.

*This is a rather spicy recipe due to the chipotle/cayenne powder. Feel free to leave it out if you'll be feeding those who prefer a less spicy taste.

OK Guys and gals its October, lets get this ball rolling!

If you would like to bring Items instead of a food Item (for the Non-chef's like myself) that is a option also. If all items can be brought it would cover the "per truck charge" we have had in the past to purchase these. Dieselheads bringing these items should arrive as early as possible in case they are needed early on!

The following is groups of items we will be needing. I tried to divy the cost up evenly between item groups the best I could. Speak up or PM me if you want to vouch for some. We usually expect 25-50 trucks so purchase accordingly

Ketchup, Mustard, 2 large bags of potato chips (Jay)

32 Hot Dog Rolls, 32 Hamburger Rolls (whoabeats)

80lbs ice(Chevytruckguy)

2-24 cases of Coca-cola, 2-24 Cases of Sprite, 2-24 cases of bottled water (Joe)

2 20lb full propane tanks

1 lbs Butter, 1 Large Bags of tostitos and salsa, 1lb American Cheese (Ted)

50 Hummels Hot Dogs (Jim)

Load of firewood with kindling to stoke the burnbarrel,(Seth)

50 Hamburger Patties

Large wholesale club style Pack of Paper towels

I will Add names to each block of items as they are claimed so we know whats still needed.
Thank you everyone for your support, see you on the 15th!!!

Hey all,
I havent been on the site in a long time but i was psyched to get a reminder Email about this event.

Since I've never been, I had a few questions :
Does this take place at someones "Shop" ?

Would love to make the trip down, if we bring a MotorHome (and truck of course) can we park it there overnight ? Self contained, but low on dukkets for a hotel room.

Besides plenty of Boston "LOGGAH", and food/munchies, what else should we bring ?

Swap Meet ? Buying and selling parts ?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to meeting and partying with other DieselHeads !

Tom, There is a large parking lot next to our facility where the motorhome could be staged, until the actual lot clears up a little in the late evening hours when you could sneak it down. During the day it is quite hectic with people coming and going. Were usually there til the wee hours on sunday, and I dont see an issue with you parking in the lot overnight, most all the businesses we share the lot with are closed sat/sun and even so, they dont use alot of the parking anyways. As far as food ANYTHING GOES! Something that you specialize in, we have plugstrips for Crock pots and BBQ's for the meats and Seafoods. different salads usually go well, casseroles, etc. If you have some diesel related stuff bring it down too, any spare folding tables to display would be helpful too. come on down we will find a spot for that motorhome for sure.

Awesome He built the tranny in my 03 in January. No complaints yet. 40+ hooks on it and 2 sets of tires so far. Shifts mint fluid is still cherry red. Don't hold your breath on the one day turnaround time though. Something weird always happens down there.

Greetings to ALL!
Especially to ALL who came to the Party! Comizzerations to those who couldn't make it.......Ya missed a memorable event! Even tho we arrived kinda late, it was fun to be there! Thanx guys for having a table for da rabbitDaddy to do some food prep on & shuck some shelllfooshes!
My hands are just returning to human shape from their claw shape that they took on from all that clam & oyster shucking! Whew! I didn't think I had that much work energy left in me!.......... I just proves that when good friends, good food, and great trucks combine..... anything can happen!

First, I'd like to thank NETDP's core Organizers for putting it all together.... GREAT JOB YOU GUYS! Each year seems bigger & better! That hanging beer popper was a cool souvineer & I'm sure it will stir up some conversation where ever I wear it! Great Idea!!!!

Between cooking & shuckin, I managed to sample quite a few of the cullinary delights.. I liked the New Hampshire Freekin Hot chicken a lot; best I've had ina while! I also got down with the marinated steaks......... they melted in my mouth with a taste that rocked! The venison sausage was off the wall with a slightly salty / sage tang that kept me nibbling away! that chicken & rice salad was superb.... Whoever made that one could ya please post the recipe!!

I had a great time talking to old friends & meeting some new ones! Too Bad that you could'nt get any vodka inta the Tim "CardShark" this year..... seems I have a better chance at his table when he's 1/2 to 3/4 pickled!!! He chewed up ALL the poker competition & kept smiling! I especially liked his $10 recruitment plan to bring in some players! good idea & it prettyfied the territory quite nicely! This really was HIS year to rock that Poker Table!!!!! TIM.... YOU da Best!!!!! this year....

I was a bit sad to bail out early but not everybody's retired & work comes early for NY DEC! As we pulled outa da lot, I could see the burning barrel glowing cherry red and a circle of happy diesel heads carrying on! It was kinda like the end of a smokin GREAT Family Reunion!

Hope EVeryonE had as GREAT a time as I did......... RabbitDaddy

It was the first time I had the pleasure of meeting you and many others! You guys put in a lot of effort so others could enjoy some great food and company. My hats off to ya! Look forward to next year!
