Driving along and I hear "Click Click" ... The sound of the Doors locking and unlocking once in succession. No big deal I thought it could have been radio interference by Sikorsky. Driving along and several miles later Click Click Click Ding Ding click. Odd Now locking, unlocking and now the dash lights come on gauges go nuts and the chime chimes twice. Now I am su....ious that something is about to ruin my day.

About 3 minutes later Ding click ding ding click etc and the engine shutting down after each dash chime I am throwing soot like the earth is on fire. and finally Ding and nothing .... no engine, no dinging just my radio works and that is it. I come coasting to an eventual stop from a looong 6% grade from the ever loving top of the hill on the highway down to the exit ramp at the bottom of the hill, smoking rotors, and a tired foot from standing on the pedal hoping to God I stop. I did ... partially in the intersection of Whaley ave and the merrit PKWY off ramp .... WHEW.

Now the key is in the forward position and the ignition and dash lights go on and off each in 5 second intervals with the doors lokcing and unlocking with each and every succession. All the time my dash needles going in a spastic pattern and of course my FASS going into super prime. I shut the key off and rant out a few shall we say "Choice words for the moment" as everyone gatered across the street is now looking at me wondering if my flight from whatever planet I came from was a bad one.

So I do a quick assessment of what is wrong and had made the cause out to be my alarm proccessor ... a Clifford alarm with "Intellistart". I can hear the distinct relay click that the proccessor makes when it supplies main power happening during this process. So frustrated I call a flatbed to my aid. I am in now way getting to the module out here.

An hour and a half later and of course at peak rush hour maddness I am in no way getting out of the truck to start "Working" on it to see what I can do. So I now sit in utter frustration when i get a call from the Flatbed driver saying he is continuing en route to me as he just blew out both front tires on the International on a road construction plate and the on the road tire guy is just sending home the last few lug nuts (I can hear it in the background).

So he gets to me, brand new 22.5" tires and all. Between two State police and the driver we get the dodge pushed out into the street so it can get on the flat bed. I hop out and close the door and I hear click click click behind me. Sinking into my mental abyss the Millenium falken has just locked me out. GOD SHOOT ME! So now the truck blocks Whaley ave and the exit to the parkway ... and the crowd that saw me land from intergalactic space travel taunt me ... ahh life is good. So we get into the truck windows down now , load her up and have a nice $160.00 ride back to home.

Now for the short version of all this:
Driving , door locks clicking, chimes chiming truck now dead and wont keep power on. What is it?

THE BOLT THAT HOLDs IN THE POWER CONNECTOR UNDER THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD BACKED OUT! .... Thats all it was just enough connection but not enough to supply full power to all the relays. Not my alarm, not a bad battery connection, not a central timer module, just a 10MM bolt.

Save your selves folks and keep a 10MM nut driver in your trucks 5 dollars vs 160 is waaay better money spent.

I think it would make more sense to put that on your PM list; Check battery terminals, power connections, etc.

Oh, wait! This is the :TMTT: we're talking about! :dunno: :exactly:

I still can't figger out how TMTT and TQT manage to drive big white smoke furnaces, with training wheels no less on the parkway with impunity and Thurston's narrow ass got pulled over. :dunno:

:falldownlaugh: c'mon, EVERYONE speeds on the Merritt! That road, the closer you get to NY, becomes a total white knuckle ride.. at least this has been my experience...

Now, even with that said, with all the bridges/architecture, scenery, rolling ride, it is one awesome road to travel... :)

Ok, I'm clueless. What is the Merritt?

It's mainly rt-15 in CT. A very picturesque drive with awesome bridge architectures to pass under and rolling hills and passes to navigate by. I think it's one of the best drives in NE, put it right up there with the Kakamagunus (sp?) Highway in NH. I used to drive the merritt in my honda 2x a week, monday AMs at 5am and Fridays after 6pm. (resided in Brooklyn, worked in Boston area). Next time you are head towards NY/NYC area, take a ride on the Merritt.

CT guys, did I get it correct? (e.g. rt-15? )?

Being a NE'dr, I don't remember route numbers or street names.. Is that common??? (I've thought it mostly to be a boston thing... )

Thanks DN. I looked it up on MapQuest, and Rt 15 seems to run from Hartford to New York. I'm not sure how picturesque that part of the state is, but I'll just have to try it next time I'm down that way. I grew up in Bethel, CT, so I usually head down I-84 to I-684 whenever I go to the Evil Empire's town. That may be the long way, but I get to see my home town.

The art-work, esp art-decco stuff on the bridges you pass under is especially note-worthy. Otherwise, it s a nice drive, as you come out of the "city" it's really neat 'cause you can sense the city leaving behind as the country side rolls -ahead.. Give it a ride, its nice.-art

No those nuts are next to each other ... you know side by side. This nut is the one in the center of the square hold down main wire harness at the ever lovin top of the PDC.
