Hi,
It's really late in asking this, but tomorrow at 830/9AM I leave to drive to upper WI.
I just greased front-end, changed oil, serviced radiator, filled all fluids, adjusted brakes, changed fuel filter, ? ? what else.. Truck is packed and ready.
I have my route chosen and printed out. Reservations made at select stops, etc. I'm travelling with my wife and 2 lil kids so I can't push much past 400-500 miles per day.
Any suggestions/recommendations? Oh yea, I'll be watching for the local authority too with radar and CB. Thanks guys!

Keep an empty "big mouth" plastic soda bottle under the seat for those "unexpected moments" Oh, and laugh at all of your wifes jokes and make pretend that your actualy listening to her:popcorn: ....that amount of time in a truck with a scorn woman can seem like an eternity:whack:(I know this from experience) -and the kids don't help matters either.:stirthepot: And the most important part...Have fun and take lots of pictures!

Angle your passinger side mirror towards your tailpipe so whenever you get mad at your wife/kids/driving/traffic, stomp it and watch the coal :Signal73:

AHH! That's too funny! My ol' lady asked me the other night why my mirror was adjusted in so far. I told her it's because I don't want to run over the boulders when I'm backing out of the driveway. She called me a chump, because every time I'm giving er' some, I'm looking in the mirror. (No, not like that...you dirty bastards!):Paully6:

Where is that, NYC? :wtf2: 65 all thru here! Cruizin speed is 75 all day long! :woohoo:
Ohio isn't that bad either. I did get nervous in Cleveland, doing 75 in the 55 in city limits on I-80, saw a cop standing behind his car, shooting radar. Never gave me a 2nd look! TMTT

ha ha,hey all! Trip out here was good, only 2 20 gal fill ups necessary. Some 1200 miles into this trip and the truck has developed a "shudder" accelerating up through 50 -75mph... ? ? Maybe time to rotate the tires?
Otherwise, nothing else to report, made great time, no law interventions, problems, etc... Vacation is good, lots of swimming, bbq'ing, beering, hanging out, etc. Got the hairy eyeball on day two when I broke out the traveling toolbox to check into something... :( :smilielol: Ended quickly.
Now, for being a post-whore and for makin' fun of me, i have one thing to say:
GFY!!! :falldownlaugh:
See ya guys!
p.s. do you all know HOW MUCH CORN is growing in this country? !? WTH? ? LOL

Where in Wisconsin did you go, my parents live in Packwaukee which is north of Portage on I-39, Only 2 20 gallon fillups, musta been running empty!!
dieselnomad
08-06-2007, 08:01 AM
I saw signs for Portage, didn't go there thou. I was in Wautoma and Montello. About the fillups, I think i forgot one in there ... lol  coming home was a lot worse, I had the hammer down most of the time since I just wanted to get home... :)

Yup, you can be as far away or as close to activity as you want to be, The Dells is 45 minutes away one way and Stevens Point is an hour the other way, Madison is an hour and a half. I think I could easily relocate out there, but then I visit and go stir crazy after the first few days.:woohoo:

I know about that. Went to Indiana last fall for a get together, used 1 3/4 tanks of fuel about 78-82 mph. On the way home, I had to stop near Buffalo NY for fuel, 3rd tank, about 90 mph most of the way! :nutkick: :smilielol:

oh yea, the hammer was down a lot on the way home.. not all the way though ;-) In CT it started getting bad...I started seeing ricers and souped up volvos who were trying to cut me off... One s40 took me up to 95 on i-84 then i used a "slow truck lane" to pass 'em.. I mean, it's all relative, right? :falldownlaugh: p.s. LOTS OF SOOT... :smilielol:
