Default 91 bronco

Quick simple question. 6bt CTD, 4bt CTD, or a 7.3 Powerstroke? anyone have any motors for sale? This is my latest project and my first car, so i want to do something pretty insane.

One last thing. This truck is a 91 bronco xlt with 6 inch suspension and 3 inch body lift. it has an original 5.0 V8. Im guessing the 7.3 would be my best bet, but i could always try using the straight 6 motor mounts to mount up a Cummins.

sounds like you already got your heart set on a 6BT, I say go with it. Some motor mounts from Destroked should work, might have to remove a piece for the small block mount but otherwise good to go.

Also might need to look into some different springs up front to handle the extra heavy motor. Might be able to use lift springs from an 05+ super duty, or get something made if the ones you have won't hold the weight.

Here is a write up for a 7.3L PSD powered Bronco with all 05 suspension and axles under it

Thanks man. I can't wait 'til I finally get something done. One last question. Does anyone know how i could run a guitar amp in my truck, and if so, do I need another battery?

anything is possible...

I would think easiest way to do it would be to get an inverter. Figure out how many watts the amp needs or so and pick up an inverter that will power it. Shouldn't need to much power for a guitar amp though I wouldn't think, you will probably want 2 good 700+cca batteries anyways for the new diesel motor instead, which should give you pretty good electrical capacity for stuff.

So I found the engine. I have absolutely no information about it other than the fact that its an inline 6 detroit. It looks like it may be small enough to fit. Its in a generator and was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what kind of power an engine like that would make. As long as i can have a motor that runs more that 175 horse ill be happy. I can work on it from there

highly doupt a detroit the size your talkin is putting out 175 horse torque would be quite a bit though. Just save up untill you can get a 6bt

Once again, i found another motor. A 4-53T 212 cid Detroit. She's makin 170 horse and 400 lb/ft torque. The big problem with this would be motor mounts. Otherwise, im seriously considering it. I've always loved Detroits so i think this is it

could be a nice ride... the 453 is sick .. you can get big power out of it ..maybe 300 hp if you know what your doing..issue is gonna be a sae trans bellhousing and a overdrive as you will need it..you can get a lot of stuff for a detroit but the cummins is a lot quieter and very simple swap... you can get new glow plug heads for the 53 series in 6v53, so a 353 I'm not sure.. if the 4cyl 53 series heads can have glow plugs yet??... the military still uses 6v53s with ddec etc ...Doug Doring in Cheshire is the detroit guru.. www.teamdiesel.com his dragster runs 8 sec 1/4 mile he specializes in 53 series... you can get a REAL Jake brake ..too not just a exhaust brake but a engine brake... if you go 53 detroit ..id do it as a toy and have adaily driver too..as you need to know you stuff detroit wise etc etc
Let us know
Thanks,
Deo
