Default Manuel trannys

Hey was wondering your guys thoughts/personal opinions when comparing the NV5600 To the G35 trannys or w/e is in the newer trucks? Is it 2006 when they started with the G35s, also was reading in an old tdr issue that they were saying the G trannys were a lil bit lighter and shifted smoother but are they as strong and reliable as the NVs. I had a 5600 and loved it didnt think it was sloppy or hard to shift at all.

Thanks guys

It's a G56* Jarred. G35 is the car made by Infinity
Anyways I have heard alot of good things about the G56's. The only negative things I've heard is that they don't handle big power as well as the 5600's. Shifts are suposed to be smooth like butter. G56's started in 2005.5

The G56 is 200 lbs lighter, iirc. The 05.5's and maybe the 06's were geared lower but I think they changed that. The early one's with the 3.73's were comparable to an NV5600 with 4.10's.

They changed the gear ratios is the G56 in '07 If your lucky you can find an '07 5.9 with the AE ratios. The last two letters on the bar code located on the right side of the transmission case are AD or AE.

Here are the ratios for the G56's
('05.5-'06) AD: (1)6.29, (2)3.48, (3)2.10, (4)1.38, (5)1.00, (6)0.79, (R)5.74.
('07+) AE: (1)5.94, (2)3.28, (3)1.98, (4)1.31, (5)1.00, (6)0.74, (R)5.42.

I'd rather have the early one...lower gears and a better OD.

The earlier one has the taller od so more rev happy.. the later has the .74 od.. and you could get the later model in '06 too.. all the 6.7 L trucks have the later model G56...
I'm putting one in my Excursion now..
Later
