Default Diesel repair shops in CT

Hey all, here's my situation....
http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/showth...0654#post90654

Long story short, I had a leaky injection pump so I pulled it by the book and replaced the rear seal. Then discoverd my lift pump was no good. Now I have fuel up to the injection pump however cannot get her to put any to the injectors.

I'm at the point where if I could find a good diesel shop in CT I would just take her there to get this fixed or if there is a traveling diesel mech that would be great. I just am not sure what to do at this point and need my truck running by the end of next week.

-Steve

is your solenoid opening? Delivery valves free, for instance if moisture got in the top of the holder and a film of rust formed then they ,may be stuck...

Best bet is start with the solenoid, leave the lines off completly and crank... if no fuel check at the filter for fuel and verify its pumping up...

If not at the filter then its further back... and if you have to the pump id guess, solenoid issues, weak overflow (aka bypassing pump) or it could be something realy realy simple and its being over looked

good luck steve~!

just read your post, need to be cranking on the truck to get fuel to injectors**** Important note,

When cranking it drives the pump to turn and then the plungers push the fuel. When you prime it just pushes fuel to the pump and it then actuates the overflow valve and bypasses in a loop.

So to prime the truck to the injectors crank it till you see fuel squiritng, helps to have a firend

Hey, thanks for the response and I'm glad you're still happy with the wheels. It was also suggested in 4bt that I pull the solenoid. I tried and feel like a gorilla trying to crack an egg. The damn wrench just wont fit because of the mounting plate that attaches to the pump head..... I may need to plasma a bitch so to speak.

Still nothing. The solenoid is gutted and I saw fuel in the pump head where the solenoid goes but nothing is coming from the injector line feeds...... Anyone know of a traveling diesel mech who could come take care of this? the injection pump black magic is killin me

It's a VE pump. I'm willing to pay cash if a mech out there can get this bad boy running by the end of next week, or I may be pulling the pump again and driving up to Mass Diesel.

Can't help on what to try but I do have a .pdf of the Bosch VE manual. It's about 1.7Mb. PM me an e-mail address and I'll send it to you. As suggested possibly PM JLeonard, Ptoombs or therabbittree. They have VE experience.

you said you pulled the pump already?..did you put teh key way back in the gear?...i find putting a small eletcric pump on the fule feed helps a lot to prime and bleed.. are any of your return lines injector or engine kinked?...if you want the ve rebuilt i would look into Giles in Ontario, canada.. he is the best I know of and resonable he does tons of VW and Mechanical TDI pumps etc..

PERFORMANCE DIESEL INJECTION LTD,.
187 STEELCASE ROAD WEST UNIT 16,
MARKHAM, ON.,
L3R 2R9
905-940-2266

Should be around $900 Canadian.. about $850 usd

If you are going to redo it wyou may want to put bigger plunger in it etc

This foprum is real big on VE pumps this is the link to the Giles contact info.
Thanks
deo

There is a Bosch shop in Plainville, Ct (might actually be in Southington, not sure where the town line is). Never had anything done there, but they are proud of their Bosch sign.
And I'll bet ACME diesel in W Hartford can rebuild it. They did a CAV pump for me several years back.
You can prime with an outboard engine squeezeball rig. Or pressurize the fuel tank with a few psi by using an air gun wrapped with a rag into the fuel fill. That will also make a leak prevalent if there is one.
